Best Review - Top 3 Ideas for a Homemade Gypsy Costume

H

alloween seems to always sneak up around the corner and catch me without a costume to wear each year.

One year in school we were studying the Middle Ages and we went to the reniassance fair in October. At the fair I saw so many people dressed as gypsies. I thought that was just a great costume to wear for Halloween so I put together a authentic looking gypsy costume of my own, just from stuff I found around my house. I dug through my old dressup bin, looked through my closet and my mom's til I found all the items I needed to put together a original gypsy costume.

It was so easy to make and it turned out great! I love how unique and different it looked. I think this costume is so much fun to put together and to wear! After all, the best Halloween costumes are the homemade ones.

I hope you get some good ideas from this page and try putting together a gypsy costume of your own!

Layer your skirts

One of the most important part of the costume is the layered skirts. Don't be afraid to have fun mixing and matching the skirts you can find in your house! First thing you want to consider when finding skirts is length. What I did is I had a skirt that went a little past my knees, one a little longer than that, and then one to my ankles. Second aspect is color. It's ok if the colors don't really match each other well. For me I stuck with neutrals such as browns and creams. Thirdly, don't hold back with frills or beads! Frilly skirts and ones with beads will look great as long as some of your skirts are relatively plain.

Add a White Blouse

Add a white blouse to your costume! It can be frilly, puffy, flowy, anything! Tuck it under one of your skirts to make it puff out a bit. You can also tie rubberbands to the sleeves to make them puffy if they aren't already. You can find such blouses pretty much anywhere. Your closet, a thrift store, amazon... It shouldn't take long to find one you like.

Wear a Few Scarves

Get some scarves! I wore probably around 4 scarves total! You can tie one around your head as a headband, and one or two around your waist a kind of like a belt. Almost any scarf will work! Whether it be jeweled, flowered, or frilly. As long as it's not to mordern-looking. The scarves I've listed on Amazon below should give you a pretty good idea of what scarves would look good.
