he influences that helped me create these conflict resolution lesson plans
As an Ancient African saying goes, I stand upon the shoulders of my ancestors as I worked on creating this curriculum. In other words, these lesson plans were not created in a vacuum.
So who deserves the credit?
My nine past principals in the fourteen and a half years that I taught
Some of my former colleagues at Clinton Middle School in Anderson County Schools, TN
Some of the administrators at Anderson County Schools, TN
Staff Development workshops I attended
TV talk shows including the shows hosted by Oprah Winfrey
Some of my graduate and undergraduate classes I have taken at Principia College and East Tennessee State University
Many books I have read throughout my life
Some of the movies and television shows I have watched
Many people I have spent time with
Students I have taught and observed including my wonderful sixth- and seventh-grade illustrator, T.J. Hutcheson
My parents, husband, siblings, in-laws, friends, and acquaintances
A Clinical Social Worker, Mr. Terry Gardner, who created seven Hero’s Journey Jack tales specifically for my students. Sadly, he is now deceased. I use and used these stories in his memory and with permission of his widow, Lin Gardner
And many, many other sources.
I give thanks to all those people who in various ways have made an impact on my life. Most of all, I give thanks to God for giving me this opportunity to share my passion and my personal crusade that tragedies such as what happened in Littleton, Colorado will hopefully never happen again.
The following books make for interesting reading. and in little or big ways, had a strong influence in the formation of this and other curriculums. I have included the Amazon.com link in case you would like to read more details about the book or to purchase a copy for yourself.
