t's that time of year again--your children are clamoring for all things spooky and terrifying. You don't have to fight the crowds at the Halloween stores that pop up like mushrooms every September. You can shop online to get great Halloween gear from costumes to decorations. Here are the top ten online Halloween stores where you can still shop before the big day.
My daughter, 10, wanted to be Red Riding Hood but we were both concerned that Riding Hood costumes, like many fairytale characters, has been overly suggestive. I'm happy to say that I found her costume in an Adult Small that came in the post yesterday--we marveled at the high quality of the cape and dirndl-like dress. It was more like a costume one would see in a production of "Into the Woods." The price was extremely reasonable and we'll definitely be able to use this outfit again next year--I can even wear it! Same thing with a Fred Flintstone costume I ordered for my 16-year old son.
This site has great deals and immediate discount codes. The variety of costumes is impressive, if you're looking for the hottest, most popular themes du jour--for example, Disney's Descendants, Avengers, Star Wars. I've had luck with this retailer before--on time delivery and good quality.
Walmart is always the "go to" place for all things holiday-themed. Their online selection of costumes and decorations is huge and they will deliver to your home or to a local store where you can pick up your purchases. And then there's the candy...YUM
You can't go wrong when you shop at Target (we used to call it "TARJAY" back in the day--very posh.) Anyway, Target always has cute items, many of which are heavily discounted. You can get costumes, candy and decorations all in one spot.
For the absolute CHEAPEST Halloween decorations, bowls and dining items, Dollar Tree is the place to go. I like the fact that they have safety items for trick or treaters--like glow sticks--so our little ones will be easily spotted even if they are wearing black.
Costco has high quality items, reasonably priced. Their children's costumes are super cheap and super cute. Plus they have adorable centerpieces and fancy candy in addition to the regular fare.
Tons of decorations, costumes in every size and great prices.
For those of us adults looking to dress up, Halloween Mart is the online store for you. There's a vast selection of age appropriate costumes, even couple's costumes available. There are even pet costumes! And, of course, there are decorations for days.
The Spirit stores are an annual tradition. They've been around for many years so, though seasonal, they are very reliable and have a great online presence. Costumes, decoration--you name it--Spirit has it!
I love Amazon; when in doubt, search what they have to offer. I found some totally cool halloween items and Amazon offers free shipping and free returns on eligible items. They have the cutest group outfits for families who like to dress the part in a unified way. And their themes range from Minions to Fairytales.

Halloween comes once a year. Unlike other holidays, though, Halloween stores can be fly-by-night outfits where you end up buying expensive items that aren't exactly what you're looking for. But these ten retailers are reliable and will help ensure a scary but satisfying Halloween.
